Mrs. Patricia Cummins

Canadian Kennel Club Judge

My first Sam came to me in 1976, a rescue from a local shelter. I bought my first registered Samoyed in 1978, and attended my first dog show that same year. That first bit of satin ribbon hooked me! I met my husband, Paul, when he came to buy a puppy from my first litter.

Under our Sancha kennel name, my husband and I have bred 67 Champion Samoyeds to date, along with a couple of Pembroke Welsh Corgis. We have been honoured to win Best in Shows, Best Puppy in Shows, and many Group wins and placements with our dogs. We bred and own the first Samoyed to earn the Grand Champion Excellent title, having earned this title along with a top breed ranking at 10 years age.

I am a Life Member of the CKC, the Samoyed Association of Canada and the Samoyed Club of America, and in 2013 was awarded CKC Master Breeder status.

Over the years I also enjoyed doing obedience with our dogs and have also worked our Sams from time to time: in harness, sledding, carting, and ski-joring, as well as more recently, in herding.

In 2007, I applied for my Conformation judging permit, and I now judge all of both Working and Herding Groups, and half of the Sporting Group.

I retired from the Provincial Government in 2006, after 30 years, where I worked in the Ministry of Finance. My other hobbies include gardening and growing orchids.
