The Vancouver Island Dog Fanciers Association (VIDFA) was started in Victoria in the early 1930’s by a small group of purebred dog fanciers whose aims were to encourage and promote the dog fancy while educating the public regarding the responsibilities of dog ownership and to help ensure humane treatment of purebred dogs. The initial intend of VIDFA was not to be a “Victoria Only” association, but to encourage membership from all of Vancouver Island. This intent continues today.
